WHY SHOULD SOMEONE BUY FROM YOUR BUSINESS?
Passion is the answer. We have great cheese and love what we do, but the passion behind everything is what helps us improve and look after our amazing customers. Also we love a cheesy giggle too!
WHO IS YOUR BRITISH CHEESE HERO?
This is a difficult one. I think cheesemakers are all heroes as it’s absolute graft, but I’d have to go with Graham and Kellie Kirkham. Their determination to produce a cheese that sticks to its roots and tradition is outstanding, and then to come through recent challenges and still be so positive and focused is just simply wonderful. They’re amazing people who always have a smile on their faces. Those that know me will be aware I’ve had some serious health issues this year, and their support to me and my business through my recovery has been amazing. I’m very grateful.
WHAT IS THE MOST ESSENTIAL TOOL IN THE MONGERING BUSINESS?
My mouth! No not because I talk a lot and not just to be able to taste the wonderful cheeses I get to work with and try, but just as important is to tell the stories of the amazing, lovely and talented people who makes these exceptional cheeses.
HOW MUCH CHEESE DO YOU EAT A WEEK?
In grammage about 2-3kg I'd say. That's spread across the week though, not in one sitting. I have done that as well though.
IF YOU COULD HAVE ONE CHEESE FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHICH WOULD IT BE?
This is a very difficult and unfair question, haha. Gun to my head though, it would have to be an Edmund Tew. Although it's very difficult, as there are so many cheeses I absolutely adore (my entire fridge at work), Edmund Tew holds a special place in my heart.
MOST UNUSUAL REQUEST FROM A CUSTOMER?
I've had a customer ask about cheese made with human bacteria as they had read about it. It had been done as I read the article as well, but not something I've ever been able to get my hands on. I also once got asked if I would give someone some cheese if they danced for me!
WHAT’S HOT IN CHEESE RIGHT NOW?
People! People are what's making the cheese industry hot and it's only getting better. This community is so amazing and has showed me so much support through everything I've been going through. Nothing hotter than amazing cheesy people!!!
